Like I said to Steve in another post, to me the Science of Being Well means just that, ie that it is a science and as such, no one book has all the answers and other books, theories and methods should be equally considered, investigated, analysed and debated.

Chapter 7 of How to Stay Well on the psitek web site suggests talking to our organs, nerves and cells to stimulate recovery....

It states that there is intelligence in every atom in your body, that every organ in your physical system is governed by a mind of its own, and that this mind has the power to produce any change in its own organ. It instructs you to address yourself to the intelligence that is in that organ, to tell this intelligence that it has the power to keep its own organ well, and that you expect it to do so. If you do this, the response will be immediate and the results you desire will, in nearly every instance, be secured instantaneously.

It says that you should not think of your body as dead matter, but as living substance, and speak to every atom in your system accordingly. Whenever you think of any organ in your body, think of the intelligence within that organ and give it the best instructions you can think of. When there is something wrong in any organ in your body, give instructions to the intelligence that is in that organ, and proceed in the faith that this intelligence can and will carry out your suggestions. Speak to the organs in your body as if they were intelligent beings and tell them that they can do their work right; encourage them all to do their best; tell them that you expect to get the best from them all and that you know that you will get it. Use words to this effect....

"You know that you have the power to keep your own organ well; you can so govern your organ that it will perform its function perfectly; you know that you can do this; I expect you to do it, and I know that you will carry out my wishes to the letter; you are a part of universal intelligence; you are a perfect expression of infinite intelligence; and infinite intelligence is always well; therefore you are, in yourself, always well; you know perfect health; you have within yourself the power of perfect health; accordingly, you can produce perfect health; you can produce perfect health in your own organ now; and I know that you will; I have perfect faith in you; I know what you can do, and I know that you want to do everything that you can do; this means that you will produce perfect health in your own organ at once; I leave the rest to you, knowing that you will be perfectly true to your trust."

The minds of all the atoms in your body will thus become a well-drilled army of workers, working with you for better health.

What does everyone think of this? Your comments are invited!

Debbie

Hi Debbie!

Perhaps I could have phrased it better (I have "off" days too, you know!), but I was not intending to restrict or constrain anyone. We all bring material from other sources into this forum. What I meant to say is that, when we do, it helps to give some detail about that material and why we think it is relevant to our main theme (which is SOBW ... the book written by Wallace Wattles) ... just like you have now done, and it makes it a much more interesting post to think about and reply to.

My other point, about starting a new topic, is so that each topic stands out when people are browsing the forum, and so that each discussion is more focussed on the topic in the heading. (With hindsight, perhaps I should have started a new topic when I replied to your question about sleeping with the window open.)

###

I would still like to hear wht YOU think about the material you have posted, and YOUR experience of using that material.

On the idea in general, in the recent post about genes, there are links to some talks by scientist Bruce Lipton, and in one (if I recall rightly) he talks about all the cells of the body being like a "community" of individuals, of which our thinking minds can play the role of "government". So, it looks like some of the scientific research done, since the book you are studying was written, generally confirms the overall theme, that the health of cells and organs responds to mental direction.

###

I have some thoughts to add about the practical aspect of "speaking" to the cells and organs of your body.

In a slightly different context (speaking about our external environment, but our cells and organs can also be seen as our internal environment) Wallace Wattles points out that "there is no healing power in the repetition of strings of words".

And, in his chapter on "Use Of The Will", Wattles also cautions against trying to order or force or command anything to happen in our bodies.

More important than the words used is the underlying beliefs that are held, and the feelings that accompany the words. So you wouldn't want to be doing the practice while watching a horror film, for example. On the other hand, feelings of gratitude will most likely generate some sort of "rapport" with your cells, so that they are more likely to "listen" to you.

The fuller version of my little quote from Wallace Wattles is, "While there is no healing power in the repetition of strings of words, yet it is a very convenient thing to have the central thoughts so formulated that you can repeat them readily ..."

So the words are like "pawns" in the game ... carriers for appropriate beliefs and feelings. And the role of "will" is to choose to focus on those beliefs and feelings ... not to try to "force" anything to obey a command. (And by the way, Debbie, I am NOT making any suggestion that you are doing that. I am speaking in general terms. I don't know what you do.)

###

When I have heard of people using these techniques succesfully ... they tend to use images and visualisations, rather than word dialogues. For example, vividly imaging an army of immune system cells rounding up and dealing with diseased cells.

It does not seem to matter one bit whether the images are anatomically "correct", as long as they build a meaninful picture for the user. Again, the key factor seems to be the underlying beliefs and feelings ... and a consistent, sustained focus (by choice, not force) on those beliefs and feelings.

###

That's all for now.
Live well,
Steve
