1. WELCOME!

It's the second edition of "Be Well!" of 2010! Because this year
marks the 100th anniversary of Mr. Wattles' publication of "The
Science of Being Well," I've got some new and special things for
you--starting today!

If there was ever a perfect year for you to be well, and to be
part of the Science of Being Well Network, this is it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. FEATURE ARTICLE: THE WELLNESS TEST
If you read a testimonial that says, "This is incredible! I
practiced the Science of Being Well, and I completely healed from
this terrible condition after every other treatment had failed!"
what does this mean for you?
If you read a forum post that says, "I tried SOBW, and it didn't
work. I'm worse off than ever!" what does this mean for you?
Mr. Wattles claims:
"...the methods of thought and action prescribed
have been tested by the author in his own case
and in the case of hundreds of others during
twelve years of practice, with continuous and
unfailing success.
"I can say of the Science of Being Well that it
works, and that wherever its laws are complied
with, it can no more fail to work than the
science of geometry can fail to work."
But a year after "The Science of Being Well" was published, Mr.
Wattles died. Does this prove it doesn't work?
Almost 100 years after it was published, I used the Science of
Being Well and healed from something no medicine or therapy had
been able to cure. So have lots of other people. Does this prove
it works?
Can it work for some people, but not others? This would be true
for every medicine or therapy that's ever been tested by any
scientific body of which I am aware. But Wattles promises it will
work for EVERYONE who applies it.
So, what's the deal?
Is it not true that it works for everyone?
Is it that people apply it incorrectly?
Is it that people don't understand it?
Is it too hard for most people?
Just what was it about those people who tested it along with
Mr. Wattles that made it work for them?
What's different about someone who doesn't get the promised
results?
Do we even know of anyone who has actually, fully, thoroughly
applied it, and failed to get well? How would we even know?
Being medically and scientifically trained, I'd love to point to
huge medical trials that support my personal experience that the
Science of Being Well works. But there are some major problems
with the methods of medical research that makes it impossible to
apply SOBW to this method.
Instead, I've had to rely on anecdotal evidence. It worked for
me. People write to me and tell me of their successes. People I
coach tell me their stories.
Regardless of what sort of proof you might want about all those
other people out there, your most pressing question boils down
to, "WILL IT WORK for ME?" Or, if you're a doctor, "Will it
work for my patients?"
Here's a bit of help.
Based on my experience with those I've coached, those who have
reported good results, and those few who have complained, here's
what seems to be true.
There are indeed some common characteristics in those who have
reported the fastest, most dramatic improvements, which are
different from the characteristics of those whose results were
slower, or who dropped out before getting well. If you are
similar to those in the "most improved" group, I'd say your
chances are excellent for having similar results.
For me, the journey to dramatic healing took five years from when
I first devoted myself to finding a cure for my own illness.
Midway in that journey I discovered "The Science of Being Well."
I wasn't a consistent "10" on the scale below, ever.
No one I've encountered who has reported dramatic healing is a
perfect "10." That tells you a few things. One, being able to be
honest with yourself is important. Two, perfection is not
required. Three, you may be a "10" in your breakthrough miracle
moment, and still have significant wobbles before and after.
Four, I don't know everything!
I'm offering the following "test" as something to think about,
and your responses will help my understanding grow.
TEST YOURSELF
For each item, rate yourself on a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 being
high, strong, absolute.
1. Ability and willingness to be honest with yourself.
2. Ability and willingness to set aside the need to be an example
for anyone, prove anything to anyone, impress anyone, teach
anyone, or please anyone.
3. Preference to be well and happy over being right.
4. Certainty that you wish to live.
5. Motivation to be well.
6. Belief that your consciousness and ways of thinking affect the
condition of your body.
7. Understanding that belief and faith precede experience.
8. Willingness to take responsibility for everything that happens
in your experience.
9. Interest in exploring your own consciousness to discover the
beliefs that are creating any experience you are having but don't
want.
10. Freedom from medical training, interaction with doctors,
patients, and other health care professionals whose view
conflicts with these beliefs, or whose attention is often focused
on illness.
11. Freedom from interaction with loved ones who criticise,
judge, or are unsupportive of this method of wellness.
12. Willingness and readiness to let go of benefits to keeping
yourself in any current unwell situation in favor of the greater
benefits of wellness.
13. Ability to ignore, overlook, or be distracted from symptoms
or appearance of your unwanted physical condition and instead
place attention on something neutral and on something strongly
positive.
14. Willingness to let go of beliefs and behavior that reinforce
the condition.
15. Ability to direct your attention where you choose.
16. Ability to love yourself.
17. Ability to love others.
18. (This one often seems to show up as an "aha" in the "moment
of miracle:") Belief that Life is eternal, your body is a small
part of who you are, and you live in, and are one with an
infinite and friendly universe.
WHAT DOESN'T MATTER
You may have noticed that nowhere on the above test are questions
about what sort of condition you have, how long you've had it,
how "serious" it is, how old you are, whether you're male or
female.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU HEAL
When you're on the longing side of the equation, it may seem that
reaching wellness is like arriving at a destination. Once you're
there, the effort is over, and you can move on!
It's true that if your life has been completely taken over by
your efforts to survive or overcome some illness or injury,
you'll want to forget all about the whole subject of health.
If you reread the questions above, you'll find that that's just
what is recommended to get there. Turns out, it's a pretty good
list of what you'd be doing if you were well and wanted to stop
putting all your attention on health. Interesting, isn't it?
YOUR TEST RESULTS
You've taken the test. You've scored yourself. Now what?
What's next is that I'd like to talk with you. Would you be
willing? I'm interested in your wisdom about how well the items
on this test match what you've found is true for you, and what
doesn't match.
If you'll submit your answers via the monthly drawing described
below, I'll contact you by email or phone. You're also welcome to
just submit your answers for the usual chance to win a prize, and
let me know you don't wish to be contacted.
Either way, use what you can from this list to guide yourself
toward your own wellness, or celebrate the ways in which you're
already there!
3. LAST TWO DAYS!
If you registered for the 2010 "Tapping World Summit," you have
only two days left to order the replays of some fabulous audios.
After March 12, I'm told they will no longer be available.
If you missed this event, you can still get the audios--but for
only two more days!
Best of all, whether you get them now, or if you've already
upgraded to the mp3 or CD recordings, you'll be contributing to
your own health and empowerment, and that of families in Mexico
with hospitalized kids. Plus, there are all kinds of extra
bonuses that weren't part of the free event, that you'll get by
joining the fun. Here's a short video explaining the project:
Nick and Jessica Ortner, who created the Tapping World Summit,
are what my aunt would have called "good eggs." They are great
role models for running with inspired ideas and making them
happen.
I was surprised to find that Jessica's talk, "Using Tapping to
Overcome Obstacles to Your Biggest Dreams," was my favorite out
of all the great sessions to which I listened. I figured the ones
related to health would be most relevant! There were some very
helpful sessions on handling addictions, pain, childhood trauma,
financial problems, fear of public speaking, and more.
What made Jessica's special was that instead of distancing
herself as an expert, she talked openly about her own early
trauma, and what she had to do to overcome it to go on and
produce this program. It made me feel that I too could do great
things, despite my limitations.
So too, can you!
If you missed all the earlier announcements about this event,
here's where you can get the basics of what it's all about:
If you register, you'll get all the announcements about what's
available.
4. TURN BACK THE CLOCK
There are some brilliant and beautiful conversations unfolding in
the forum. If you're not already involved, here's a sample of
what you've been missing:
"An experiment was conducted ... by medical
professionals ... in which a group of elderly,
and quite sick, people were taken on a special
holiday.
"Their hotel had been redecorated and refurnished
in "retro" style ... that is, as it would have
been in the era when all these folk were in their prime.
"Also, they were not allowed to pack anything
for their holiday. When they arrived, the
wardrobes were already full of clothes ... all
in the styles these "old" folk would have worn
when in their prime.
"During their holiday, they heard only similarly
"retro" music, watched only "retro" films, and
so on.
"Result ... the "old" folk were soon behaving
like people up to 20 years younger ... AND there
were significant, measurable improvements in the
symptoms ot "old age" diseases like arthritis
and diabetes."
put together info from two places to create the answer.
THE WINNER OF THE LAST DRAWING IS ...
6. THE LAST WORD: I WISH YOU STRENGTH
Is there something you've secretly wanted to be or do since you
were a kid?
One of my secrets is that I've always wanted to be a singer. I
get goosebumps listening to people who are passionate about what
they are singing, and have fabulous voices.
Several years ago I met Jana Stanfield at a workshop with Jack
Canfield. She's made herself into a "keynote singer," providing
the kind of inspiring messages you'd expect from a good keynote
speaker.
Will you let her sing to you? (And pretend it's me singing to
you? wink.gif)
If you decide to follow up on her suggestion to start on your own
"positive music month," here are a couple of free online music
stations you can play.
-> http://www.positivemusicassociation.com/radio.php
My dear friend Rev. Annette Lake was a hotshot DJ before she
became a minister, and her online radio show is the wonderful
result:
Here's one more online station, a little less specific and with
some ads, but one that lets you choose the songs and musicians
you want to hear.
Tune in again next month--or sooner!--for more news and goodies.
Remember, you'll always find the latest news here!
Until then,
"Trusting that you will go on until the priceless blessing of
perfect health is yours," I wish you infinite blessings along
the way.
EXPECT GOOD THINGS!
To your freedom and wellness,
Dr. Alexandra
