Hi Alexandra,
I have found that my parents came from the depression era where you ate everything on your plate because there was starving people in the world and you should not throw away good food. I never was a breakfast eater and always believed you should not eat because the clock said it was a certain time or for any other reason except that you were truely hungry. Now I have material to back me. We don't come into the world eating 3 meals a day. Babies eat when they are hungry and stop when the hunger subsides. They eat small portions and many times. What about people saying breakfast is a must because it starts your metabolism. I have seen people lose weight by eating breakfast too. I don't eat breakfast, I eat when I am genuinely hungry. I have been doing that since November and I have lost 65 lbs. I am challenged however by the staying away from thinking and talking to others about sickness and disease because I am an RN and I have to talk with my patients, any suggestions would be helpful. Thankful, Jewelie |

Hi Alexandra: I'm new to your site but not new to the ideas you offer. I've read the e-book and find that I do most of the external things; what I am now fine tuning is the consciousness or the conscious level I am operating on minute by minute. What I have found since doing this is that I don't take the time to formulate my mental pictures as much as I would like and I am often not aware when I am thrown off track by whatever until I am down the wrong road aways. I do go to a naturopath regularly to stay on course; I'm working on the application of my faith and the awareness of "just where is my mind in this moment"?
To stay in the present helps and to monitor my thinking so I am aware when I am in the past or the future helps . Thank you for offer of this site. I'm grateful for people like yourself who are offering information to others that you yourself have learned and experienced. I am also going thru the book The Science of Getting Rich and find the place I have to work on is my "mind" and my "thinking". How much I appreciate the direction I am being given to discover this. Where do I find the software you offer? Thank you again, I am looking forward to participating. Carolynn J. Ross |

Having read the book for the second time, I wouldn't say it was radical.
It seems to be basic common sense, doesn't it? I'm saying that as praise by the way, as one of the books attractions is it's simple easy to apply principles. There are also a few gems in there like sleeping with the windows open. I've been doing that for the past week and certainly do wake up feeling far more refreshed. As Alexandra says in her comments in the book, it's everything that your grandmother told you when you were younger. Wally seems to put it in a way that makes perfect sense. |

Hi everyone ... some great comments on this thread.
To me, personally, there is nothing new in SOBW ... but it brings everything together in a new way ... a way that WORKS ... and more and more I keep finding material which fits in with it ... and anyhing that doesn't , I know I can pass on it. GAIL ... your question about how to "think health". Try this ... First read the chapter on Breathing ... then do the breathing "exercise" that Wally describes ... you will feel good! ... Remember that good feeling ... When you want to "think" health ... take a deep breath and bring back that feeling ... see it as becoming your permanent state from now on ... enjoy it! The type of "thinking" that Wally talks about is not just the stuff that goes on in your head ... it's also ... perhaps more so ... what you feel in your heart. Interestingly, I once heard that when Tibetans speak of their "mind" ... they point to the heart area! Hope this works for you, Gail. This is pretty radical, compared to what I was raised with, have read, and am surrounded by.
Thinking: Since I've studied SOGR, I am cool with it, but the first time I encountered this site a couple of years ago, I was taken aback -- thought it sounded like wishful thinking. I see little support for this kind of thinking in the world around me. My parents worried about diet and health non-stop and raised me to do the same. Almost all of my friends and everything I read is oriented towards fear of disease and insistence upon its inevitability. Eating: Most of this is totally new to me, and is not at all what my friends/family do, but I'm willing to try it. Currently I'm following a regimen recommended by my Ayurvedic doctor, which requires specific mealtimes, including a light breakfast, so "eat only when hungry" is a challenge for me to consider. I also don't know how to fit that in with regular mealtimes with family and friends. Drinking: I'd already made this change years ago, but almost everyone I know drinks sodas. Sleep: Sleeping with an open window is new to me; I'd never even considered it, let alone thought that it would make any difference. But my hubby won't let me do this. In Houston, Texas, voluntarily going without A/C -- especially at night during the summer -- would be regarded as some sort of bizarre masochism. Breathing: I am going to have to move to get clean air (Houston is a highly polluted city) but I was going to do that anyway I like the "exercise only for fun or profit" bit -- and that's very different as well! I've read a MILLION times that you have to FORCE yourself to get out there and SWEAT or you're gonna die an early death. (Ha.) A lot of people I know force themselves to "work out," though a couple of them claim to enjoy it. I doubt that I could convert the people I know to living this way, but I'll go ahead and suggest it when people ask how I got so healthy |

Hello to all!
The Science Of BeingWell is not so radical, but the life I used to live was radical. I always knew this but somehow I felt good having my scotch, smoking and staying up late in jazz bars. I really believed I was living the life. I'm glad I've been there done that and have now come to focus on what I'm worth! I'm special and that took a while to realise. But my entire family including friends and partner have a problem with me. They say I have changed and I'm no more fun. But I'm fun for me and I enjoy looking good and feeling healthy. I love it when people admire me, I love reflecting the miracle of my humaness. But the funny thing is these very same people that think I'm square are the ones that are addicted to cigarettes, alcohol are generally are caught up in a negative vibe. I just know there is no going back for me. -------------------- Claudia Rich Beyond Words

Dear Healthcroc,
Welcome to the good life! As you focus on what's good about it, you'll attract plenty of others into your life who know how to have a different kind of fun and recognize your worth. Keep it up! with love, Alexandra |
